A tree, nature's back rest
Reaches up towards the sky
A thing of so much beauty
And the secrets within it lie
A bird forages within it
For a branch as its nest
A squirrel scurries on an arm
Entertaining I do confess
The roots reach down
Deep beneath my very feet
A spider spins its web
His limb cannot be beat
A caterpillar inches by
To spin his small cocoon
A secret hidden deep inside
To be revealed someday soon
A trail of ants march up the side
To scavenge some food
Then they march down again
Once they have found what is good
A tree so peaceful now
Solitarily stands
And many more like it
Reach across fertile lands
