Drifting

She drifts in silence
From cloud to cloud
The ones around her
Speak not aloud

Her heart is breaking
But no one sees
Her endless sadness
Her heart unfree

His words unspoken
He does not know
A life without him
She needs not show

With all around her
She is but one
And one forgotten
One all alone

She cannot make him
Look in her heart
And though she loves him
Should they soon part

She wants to free him
From ties that bind
She will release him
So he can shine

And far below him
She’ll smile to know
That he is happy
That he shall grow

Without her binding
His life to hers
He can soar free now
Above the earth

And far below him
He shall not see
How much she loved him
To set him free

He will not see tears
Fall from her eyes
He’ll never hear her
Forlorn heart’s cries

He’ll never learn how
It hurts her so
To stand here watching
Him turn to go

Now all alone in
Her clouded mind
She’ll sit here waiting
For all of time
